All quilted out

I have spent the last few days doing almost nothing but quilting. Trying to complete my very first quilt. It has been a long road. I have found that I am not very good at measuring, not very good at cutting, not very good at sewing a straight line...All that and it was still going pretty good. But, today I found out that you should actually read all the directions and not just assume you know the rest. So I am not very good at following directions. I made a huge mistake and spent the rest of the day trying to fix it. I am a little disappointed but the end result is ok. I still have a bit of fixing to do tomorrow and then maybe I will take a picture or two.

Lily helped me with the whole thing. It is a new quilt for her because she has outgrown her baby quilt. She loves it tremendously, I guess that is all that matters. I really learned a lot and I can now say that I can thread the machine, fill the bobbin and sew a very straight line.

In other news Trent Lott resigned but I cannot figure out why. He is actually from a town just down the road from where I am currently living. He is also responsible for doing a great deal of good for this community after Katrina. I always say that we all have more in common than we imagine.

Congrats on finishing the quilt. What a huge accomplishment. It was made with love, that's all that matters.

Maybe Lott is just ready to retire.

I can't wait to see the quilt. Kuddos to you and Lily. It's neat that she got to see you making it since it will be hers. I come from a long line of quilters. The quilts my Granny and mom made grace our beds in the winter. You have made an heirloom for Lily. May you make many more.

You are a far braver woman than I. If someone gave me pre-cut quilting squares, then I could probably make a lovely quilt. If I have to take the time to accurately cut the pieces...well then a quilt is never going to happen. As you said, the important thing is that Lily loves it:~)

Congrats on finishing. I rarely finish a lot of things that I start so I am in awe of you.

So I'm your only non-quilting commenter! LOL ~ our theory on Lott's resignation is that he's going to become a lobyist (sp?) sooner. Next year the rules change & he would have to be out of office for 2 years before he can change teams. Quitting this year means that he'll have only 1 year to wait for the new job.

Or we could be wrong & he could truly be quitting to stay home & spend more time with his family. But his excuse of "You don't get rich in this job" is flimsy ... he owned a gorgeous coastal property in a prime real estate area - the man is FAR from poor and destitute.
