Christmas Dinner?

What are you cooking for Christmas? We have a tradition of having Chili. We open presents, eat a fabulous breakfast - eggs: with ham, cheese, onion, peppers, warm rolls, fruit. Then I make a big pot of chili and nibblies, and we just snack for the rest of the day.

It all started when we were in Italy. We had a ton of great friends and all of us being away from family we started a tradition of inviting people over to play games. We would have an open house game day. Our friends would stop by for an hour or two, we would offer them chili and other snacks, play a few games etc. Here we don't have any friends to invite over. Here everyone has their family, their friends... But, we are still having chili and games. What is on your menu?

On Christmas Eve we are having homemade french onion soup. Yummy, I can not wait. For Christmas day we make a breakfast of some sorts, Bob is in charge and for dinner I am making cornish hens stuffed with Crab dressing. When we do not have company for the holiday I like to try to make something different. We have never had this before so hopefully it is delicious! Still working on the sides...guess I better decide soon!

French onion soup is my all time favorite, I make it homemade too. Do you use whiskey or brandy? The first time I ever had it was in Kenya on Safari, it took me years to get my recipe just the way I like it. MMMMM. Crab stuffed cornish hens sounds wonderful. We have a store here that sells deboned, crab stuffed chickens for about 25 a piece so it must be good.

We do a big deal meal on Christmas Eve, usually beef tenderloin or prime rib. On the Day, we do more of a large brunch/snack all day bit. With mimosas. Mimosas are key.

Whatever my family is making! I bought a container of cookies (not as good as yours, I'm sure) that I'm bringing as my contribution.

We usually have the traditional Christmas turkey but lately turkey has been making my husband sick so I'm trying to think of something else. I love the chili idea!

Traditionally we would have Turkey on Thanksgiving and ham Christmas day, bone in, so we would have it to make beansoup for New Years day. Since moving away from everyone and especially since my husband started working vampire hours, we eat out if he isn't working. We both adore French onion soup, so maybe.....

Wouldn't you like to post your recipe! Please?

Hi Marsha

Over here in England we don't celebrate Thanksgiving so we have our turkey on Christmas Day. Turkey with sage and onion stuffing, sausages wrapped in bacon garnish, roast potatoes, sprouts, carrots, cauliflower cheese and to finish Christmas pudding with brandy sauce.

P.S. Just wanted to wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas Marsha and all the best for 2008!

I used to make omeletts every Christmas morning because Leonard loved them so much. I think I won't be able to do it this year.
