Garbledy Goo

Monday was my 39th birthday. I had a really great day. My family conspired together to treat me like a princess. They went all out, it was very sweet.

Lily made me a card. She used construction paper, scissors, and glue to make me a collage type card. Not only did she present the card to me first thing when I awoke after a lovely sleep in, she kept presenting it to me all day long. She would say, it is time for me to give you your card. She would go and find the card and present it to me. I would make a huge deal about the card and she was satisfied. She is learning how to get the attention she needs in positive ways. I am learning how to withdraw attention for negative behavior and lavish it for great behavior. She will make me go see her room 20 times when she has cleaned it. Each time I make a huge deal and we are both happy. I am thinking back to this time last year and all the behavior problems. While she is still not a peaceful child she is much better.

This morning Jeff is taking the final comprehensive examination in order to get his Masters Degree in Military History of World War II. He has been studying non-stop for weeks. Say a little prayer or send a good wish if you get the chance.

Yesterday at the gas pump, I was a quite upset that it cost me more than $35 to fill my tank. That is until a shinny new yellow hummer pulled in behind me. I almost laughed out loud at the poor guy. He did not look happy.

Congrats to Jeff! What a great accomplishment. If Bob would just get off his butt and write his thesis, we would be done with it. Note the we part! HA!! Had to laugh about the gas incident. It kills me at the pump right now to fill our van and Bob's truck. We want to get rid of the truck for a smaller vehicle, much smaller and economical, but we do not want the car payments. Pretty soon the cost gas is going to feel like a car payment!

What smart observations, both about Lilly and the Hummer!

I'm 39 too, just a little older than you! Glad you had a good birthday!

Thanks for the advice about my back!

Be well, Sniz

Hope you had a good birthday Marsha. I will be thinking of Jeff when he takes his exam. Hope he passes with flying colours. Unfortunately the cost of petrol is rocketing here in England too! Being a car driver is definitely a luxury nowadays!

Happy Birthday! :) Sounds like you had a good day.

Congrats to your hubby, I will think good thoughts for him.

Haha, you know I drive a Jeep right? My distaste for HUMMER owners runs deep. You know what we say about them right?

I'm glad you had a happy birthday, and congrats to Jeff for all his hard work in school. When I had to fill up our SUV it cost me about $75 at least twice/week. With my "new" old piece of junk Honda it costs me $37 once a week. This makes me happy, even with gas prices here currently at $3.91.

Kim: Jeff had to take a proctored exam without any notes, his paper had to include sources and he had to answer 7 essay questions. He had to be able to remember names, dates, and tie it all together in 6 hours and 15 minutes. But now it is done. We bought two small used cars that have small gas tanks, good millage, low insurance and no car payment.

Sniz: Thanks, I do hope your back is better soon, that is no fun at all.

Mamadaisy: Thanks for the birthday wishes, I really had a great day. Yeah, Jeff.

Capello: Thanks you.

Naomi: I wish we had the public transportation options you have here in the US. We don't even have sidewalks or bike lanes near my house.

Sara: Ha you made me laugh. What is with all the yellow hummers? Are there a lot in your area too? I always wanted a Jeep that sounds fantastic. Big truck small ----, thanks for the laugh.

Lorelei: We had an SUV at our last base and when we moved here Jeff wanted to get another one. In fact he had his heart set on a brand new SUV. After we bought the house we decided that a small used car would be better. Our second car is a Honda as well, a 1997 Honda Civic, I like to think of her as a classic rather than as a piece of junk. At least she is red. Jeff thanks me now for insisting on getting a small car. We are upset about the $35 per week even though it is worse for others. What is funny is that we see so many people hauling their big boats with their big trucks to go out on the Gulf on the weekends. Keep thinking that those people are going to take their boats out no matter how much gas costs. I wish I were them sometimes.
