Alaska

Jeff sent me an email today in which he inquires what I think of him applying for a job in Alaska. I have just got my mind wrapped around going to LA or Mississippi, now he want to apply for a different job and make me wait some more. Sometimes people in the military don't know where they are moving until a few weeks before they move.

Jeff, Mandy and I have all been having wild and crazy dreams. Perhaps the stress of the wait. We sit around the dinner table and compare our dreams. I guess it is nice to know we are all going through the same thing at the same time. Mandy looks at Lily and says, she has no idea, no idea her world is about to be turned upside down. Poor Lily, she was born here, this will be her first move. My Lily queen of the fit, I can only imagine what moving is going to do to her disposition.

Lily still sleeps in the crib. She is happy there. She doesn't climb out. Her crib converts to a toddler bed and then eventually to a double bed. We are debating if we should introduce her to sleeping in a bed now or just wait until we move. I really don't want to do the bed yet, we have enough problems with Lily I am not ready to fight with her at bedtime. However, I wonder if it will be slightly easier on her moving if she is already used to sleeping in a bed?

As long as she isn't climbing out, keep her into the crib. And don't introduce a bed to her until she has really adjusted after the move.

Alaska? I'm so jealous. That would be AWESOME.

Alaska? It is beautiful there, but the suspense would be killing me. I have not knowing what's going to happen.

I would go to Alaska, that is one place on my list. I hear it is a great assignment, everyone I know who has been there loves it. When we moved from Italy to Texas we switched Jake from a crib to the bed. It went fairly well. We first were visiting everyone so he slept in a toddler bed at one house and then a twin at another. When we got to Texas he shared a bed with one of us at the hotel and then when we moved into our house we had purchased him a bed and had it set up and ready to go, he never seemed to be bothered by not having the crib. I would try setting up the toddler bed now, then when they move your stuff, put her in a regular bed, maybe the mattress on the floor, with the loaner furniture they give you..if that is how it works in Japan. She is probably ready for it. Good luck!

okay now I just read other comments, and mine is the total opposite. Try the toddler bed now, if it seems a big problem go back to the crib until you settle into your new home. Yes, I can feel your stress!

I haven't the slightest idea about toddler beds but I have to say the Alaska thing sounds great. Think of the experiences y'all could have there!

Oooh! Alaska! It's like America's own foreign country! What an experience THAT would be!
