My Little Feminist /sarcasm

After driving Mandy to work this morning, and getting Lily settled down with some cartoons, I decided I should mow the lawn. I have a very brown thumb but I still am determined to have a nice yard. I told Lily I was going out to the back yard to mow and
she told me,

"girls don't mow, only boys mow"

Lily out-climbs, out-runs, out-jumps, every boy on the playground. She may like to wear pink but she is a rough little girl. Where have I gone wrong, how have I failed? Where is my little feminist? I was so upset.

I spent 45 minutes trying to get the mower to start, now I am blogging. Where are all the boys?

Jeff is off at the Bataan Memorial Death March this weekend. Have fun baby, don't worry I will find a way to mow even if I have to go and buy an electric lawn mower. Why don't they just have a key starter like the car?

Love the pictures on your side bar! Yeah, the mowing thing is a tough one. I still struggle to get over it sometimes myself!

what a nice thing for jeff to do!

when i was choosing my classes in high school, my dad said, don't take a printing class, that's for boys. so i took it anyway and did terribly. i found a guy to do my projects for me, and i let him copy my spanish homework in exchange.

oh well. we tried!

Would it have been better if Lily had said...'Girls don't mow, they just find some boy to mow it for them...unless of course the girl really likes to mow lawns which evidently mommy can't do because the damn mower doesn't have a normal starter thingy?"

Thank god men are good for something! LOL
PS: I can not believe that you know who found time to respond to a blog!

My daughter was always saying similar things too at Lily's age and I could never figure out why. It wasn't like she was the kind to wait for boys to do things; she'd just do them herself. I still don't get it and she's 14 now!

I told my oldest son one time to wash his clothes and he said "girls do the laundry, boys mow the lawn and take out the trash." I told him "and what if there is no 'girl' in your life...who are you going to get to wash your clothes??" I then made him wash EVERYONE'S clothes for the next month until I was certain he KNEW how to wash them. He never made another comment like that again. LOL

I remember getting a paperback book for my first son when he was little called something like, Girls Can Do Anything. I can cut the grass and used to do it more than husband, but the strength needed to pull the cord to start the damn thing has left me and I have to get one of the guys to do that. Maybe I need a new mower. Ha.

I actually grew up with a survivor of the Bataan Death March.
