Job Interview

Mandy has a job interview tomorrow, finally, at a grocery store for a part time cashier position. The only clothes she owns is jeans and t-shirts, therefore I suggested a new job interview outfit. I am paying for the outfit, will she share her paycheck? Did she share her paycheck when she broke her toe and I did her paper route for a month? no.

I suggest black or navy slacks and a white or cream button down shirt with black loafers. She says, no way. She says that is dumb and she would look stupid.

What do you all think? Am I being old fashioned, or do people still dress in the standard uniform for this type of job interview?

We are going shopping this afternoon, just the two of us, I don't know if we will survive. You may see us on the news, mother and daughter throw down in local outlet mall.

I am really excited though this will be our first trip to the outlet mall, my first trip to an outlet mall since my return to the lovely US of A. God Bless the outlet malls, they have Old Navy and the Gap, sweet.

Miss Lily has somehow misplaced at least half of the letters to the family scrabble game. I have spent at least an hour today looking for the letter K. She is running around the house calling for the letter K. She feels she cannot skip the letter K in her mission to alphabetize the scrabble letters. Where or where is the letter K? My kingdom for a K.

Well, I'm going to agree with Mandy on this one. When I worked at the grocery store I wore jeans and as a teenager that was the best thing. Not sure but maybe kaki pants not slacks but that would be it. You won't want them to think she dresses like this all of the time because they will then expect her to dress like that all of the time.~~Angel

I would think as she's a teenager and it's part-time, jeans are ok, but with a nice shirt (not a t-shirt) and nice shoes, not flipflops or something like that. You can still look cute and put together wearing jeans. Heck, I'm 41 and that's about all I wear!

Good luck to Mandy! (and on that K)

I'll make sure to watch the news tonight!
Hope it goes OK.

I would say khaki slacks, a nice polo shirt and a nice pair of sandals (not flip flops). Polished, but not fussy.

Hope the job will be hers to take!

She should look and see wear what the other cashiers are wearing, and then wear something like that.

I would think jeans are ok, as long as she's got a nice shirt and nice shoes to wear with them.

Can't wait to hear how it goes!

Hope she got the job. Can't go wrong with khakis and a polo-type shirt even if jeans are the standard. I still think managers appreciate applicants that dress like they are serious.

K is a funny letter. My husband has always told me this when he wanted to get me to giggle laugh or smile. So, when you find the letter K you will surely do one of the three.

When my daughter wanted clothing that I didn't think was a good choice I would say she would have to pay for half. That made her think much more carefully about the purchase.

Thank you for you prayers for my friend.
