Happy Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I like the way the neighborhood comes out together, it is a night of neighborly love. I have high hopes for meeting neighbors and having a lot of fun. I am busy working on getting Lily worn out enough to take a nap today. She really doesn't do naps well anymore, but then she has grouchy evenings. Hopefully a very busy active day will wear her down enough to take an afternoon nap and then be extra perky for a night of fun.

Good luck. What is Lily wearing? and how do you deal with all of the candy that she can't eat?

Thanks Lynn, Lily is going as a tiger, same costume as last year. She loves it so much. Last year we were in Misawa, Japan and it was so very cold, I bought a costume a few sizes too big. I then put several layers of clothes under the costume. This year in MS that same costume will work great. She loves it so much.

Last year Lily could not eat any of the candy she got trick or treating because of her food allergies. Now she no longer appears to be allergic to anything and so she can have the candy. All those years of not eating candy or junk food has made Lily weird. There are very few treats she will eat. She is incredibly picky - but the funny part is that she only like fruits, veggies, beans, meat, rice. She wouldn't try a piece of candy for all the tea in China. Only plain chocolate bars.

I am planing to give Jeff all the candy tomorrow morning to take to work with him. Maybe I will let Lily keep a few pieces to have once in awhile. But, it is so tempting for me. What about you? Are your kids going out? What do you do about the candy issue?

Four birthdays and an anniversary this month makes this time a very stressful one for me. Finding or making costumes that are comfortable and warm for three kids, making home made birthday cakes, carving pumpkins as well as teaching school and trying to celebrate my anniversary makes it difficult for me to relax and really enjoy this time. But the actual trick or treating is nice. I hope she takes a good nap and that you have fun tonight. What's she going to be?

DS won't even help me pass out the candy. Hubby had to hide it so I wouldn't eat it all. Guess I'd better ask him to get it out since it's about that time!! I hope you guys have fun tonight.

I sort of wish that I was still there for Halloween but my nephew's too old to trick or treat and they live out in the boonies and don't get trick or treaters so it would sort of be pointless.

Hope Lily has a fun time!

I "buy back" the candy from my kids, by replacing it with candy that I feel is better for them. ie: I take all the chewy candy and replace it with chocolate. After a few days they are pretty much sick of so much chocolate.
