Spike's Pickleball Paddles

My first draft of a new design for my dad's website is finally done.

Spike's Pickleball Paddles

Maybe you can stop by and help me find all my errors. My dad decided to change from selling one product, a pickleball paddle, to selling several pickleball related products. I had to change the layout a bit. He also decided to sell his products at an ebay store and I had to include links to the store.

Now I am working on writing the programming to make his site into a store. So one can order items and put them in a cart etc. Nothing like learning on your feet. I thought after the store stuff I would try to put up a message board for pickleball players to have conversations. First I need to get the whole thing xhtml compliant and add some meta tags. I also forgot to include the logo that I actually made, somewhere on the site.

Oveall I really love the layout and the colors. What about you? Do you think the header is too big? What about those yellow lines are they cool looking or too much? Did you like the pickle? Let me know all your lovely thoughts.

Oh and if you want to include a link to his website on your blog that would not hurt my feelings at all. I even made a cute little add for my sidebar and I could make one for yours. You should also be playing pickleball it is a lot of fun. Anyone can play all you need is a paddle. That is the slogan I came up with for the website, pretty good, eh?

Spike's Pickleball Paddles

I have been busy making a website for my dad. I know I did this all before, but this time I coded the site on my own. It was a project for school, no web authoring tools. So, check it out and tell me what you think. I still have a day before I turn it in so I can make changes.

The logo

My teacher didn't believe I designed the logo for my dad's company. And by the way dad does not like the blue and red logo, I did. Anyways I have made another one, but I wont subject you to any more of my tweaking. I wrote my teacher a long email detailing how I did every last bit of it and how many hours it took me, I even sent her the lastest version. I sent her all of your email addresses as references that the work was mine, just kidding. But, after my very long email she beleived me and I got more points on my project. Yeah, more points.

I went over my alloted Internet hours this month and it cost us $50 extra dollars. I talked Jeff into signing us up for unlimited DSL access, which wont start until July, but this month I start a new class and we have to download a bunch of programs, tomorrow. Very frustrating. I am paying all the extra money and then not getting it when I need it. I should just cancel the upgrade, oh wait, no I don't want to do that either. So I feel so bad, I have been spending money like it grows on trees around here.

Pickleball Paddles

I had to make another logo for my dad. He didn't like the one y'all liked because his paddles are white fiberglass with a touch of green and not black or silver as I portrayed them to be. This caused me a ton of work, because the background was white, and then I went crazy. So I made the new logo and I made a little website for him, which will more than likely get all changed after I get my feedback. Still it was fun.

click the logo if you want to see the website.

Photoshop is hard

Who knew? Anyways, I thought I would show you some of my work. I am not getting the best grades in the class, mostly B's but I sure am having fun. Anyways here are some of the logos I have designed all by myself for my dad's pickleball paddle company. As soon as I finish the class I am going to design him a website, I just want to learn a bit more about design first. What do y'all think?

If you want a pickleball paddle email me and I will get you in touch with my dad.

My Brain, part II

Now that I have admitted that I leave things laying around the house, I might as well let it all hang out. When we moved into this house is was enormous. We had lived in a tiny two bedroom in Italy. There we had very little storage space, very few drawers, very few cupboards etc. So we didn't really have a lot of STUFF. Here, we had so many cupboards and drawers we didn't have enough STUFF to fill them.

Everytime I leave something on a counter or a table it gets put in an empty drawer or cupboard. Fast forward three years. All our cupboards and drawers are full and I don't know where anything is. This summer I get to go through each and everyone of those drawers and cupboards, organize and put it all away. Joy. Truthfully I enjoy organizing stuff, so it should be a blast.

Also this summer Jeff's mom has agreed to come and visit us for a month. I am very excited. How brave is she? We have an extra room, so I am working on getting it all nice for her. This is going to be our last summer here so having someone to show all my favorite spots to will get me off my butt and out and about. Plus Lily has never met her Grandma, and Mandy and I have only met her twice. I must begin cleaning.

In my desktop design class, which is an introductory class and I want to point out that I have no experience with art or creativity so be kind to me, anyways I am tasked with picking a business for future assignments. I picked my dad's real business and so I am able to make a logo, webpage, brochures etc for him to actually use. My dad actually retired about 7 years ago, they sold everything they own and bought a fifth wheel and are traveling the country. They learned of a sport called Pickleball and have become very involved. My dad has actually won medals in Pickleball Olympics etc. They have also made many friends their age, people who are also retired and living in fifth wheels. These people meet up in various locations and follow the good weather, winter in Arizona, summer in Oregon, that type of thing. Anyways my dad has started making Pickleball paddles and selling them for a bit of extra money. I will let you know how my design plays out. I hope to be of help.

I had a great mother's day, truthfully everyday is mothers day here at Chez Adventures. My family is nice to live with, they treat me well. I hope you all had a great mother's day as well. I sent my mom a present, which is not typical because I am usually forgetful, but hopefully it will get to her soon.
